FIFA's punishment for Luis Suarez after his World Cup bite on Giorgio Chiellini was too harsh, says the Uruguayan's former team-mate Iago Aspas.
Aspas, who played with Suarez at Liverpool last campaign before his loan move to Sevilla, said the striker had been treated 'like a murderer'.
Suarez was given a four-month ban that forbids his involvement in any footballing activity, which was a step too far says Aspas. The punishment includes a nine-match international ban, which is where Aspas believes it should have ended.
'They are treating Luis like a murderer and not like a footballer,' Aspas said to Cadena Cope.
Barcelona haven't been able to unveil Suarez, their £75million signing, due to the restrictions.
'I understand his nine-game international ban because of the incidents that took place in the past, but the rest of the sanction is too much in my opinion.'
Suarez will be eligible to make his debut for Barca on October 26.
