He's one of
the biggest movie stars in the world, but when it comes to sight seeing
Michael Fassbender is just like the rest of us: a goofy tourist.
The
37-year-old actor was spotted taking in the beauties of Russia's
capital city on Friday, just days after walking the red carpet at the
Moscow premiere of his latest film X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
Dressed
smartly in a pair of black dress shoes, jeans, a white shirt and crisp
black suit jacket, the Irish star was indistinguishable from any other
tourist.
As he walked around the picturesque Red Square accompanied by several
security guards, Fassbender didn't hesitate to crouch down and take the
odd snap.
It
was a decidedly upbeat side of the Oscar-nominated performer, who is
best known for taking on dark and dramatic roles - such as that of
mutant leader Magneto in the X-Men franchise.
The
actor plays a younger version of the character in the two most recent
installments in the franchise, with the role previously being filled by
Sir Ian McKellan.
Happy snap: The 37-year-old grabbed a quick photo as he visited popular Russian tourist spot Red Square
Magneto moment: The actor was in Moscow for the premiere of X-Men: Days Of Future Past on Tuesday
In
Days Of Future Past both versions of Magneto appear in the film, with
Fassbender saying that he had to study McKellan's accent so the
performances would mirror each other.
'There was this clip on YouTube where Sir Ian was giving a lecture on Shakespeare,' he told The Star Ledger.
'I listened to that one over and over to try and get it. So when you see this X-Men, well, I sound a bit different.
Say cheese: Fassbender has been busy on a global press tour promoting the latest film in the blockbuster superhero franchise
'Perhaps the whole time Magneto's been locked up he's been taking elocution lessons.'
He
also recently finished filming an adaptation of Macbeth with Australian
filmmaker Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) and Marion Cotillard as Lady
Macbeth.
Fassbender
is re-teaming with the director for a blockbuster adaptation of popular
video game Assassin's Creed, which he's getting ready to begin
shooting.
